Dd wrt ipkg update не работает
Question: since which build ipkg has been removed?
How do I supposed to install .ipk files on /jffs now?
Is there a way to get ipkg back manually?
Thanks

| Is there a way to install opkg into /jffs without using USB? If not, what would be the official way to get back ipkg? | |

| In broadcom sometimes there is free space on the flash which can be used to install some packages, this is called JFFS2 space. You can enable it on the Admin page. I have never seen it working on Atheros though. Some dd-wrt wiki pages are up to date, others are not. PM me if you find an old one. Atheros: Источник Dd wrt ipkg update не работаетI have been high and low on the wiki with no luck. The only article I have found on Ipkg is: and it does not contain anything about this error. Can you give me a URL? Jeremy | |

| according to the wiki you need to be in /jffs directory when you run ipkg update See also Testing ipkg | |

Hm, being in /jffs was not enough. I had to make the /jffs/tmp/ipkg directory, then it worked. Once that directory is made, it will work from any directory. I would assume that many people have problems with this as the main wiki page on Ipkg says nothing about manually making the /jffs/tmp/ipkg directory. (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Ipkg). Thank you very much for helping me sort out this problem. However, I now have another. I’ll go searching, but I just didn’t expect so many difficulties. Basically I do ipkg install rsync and it says failed to install cause libpopt was not installed and recommends I install libpopt. So I do, and then try rsync again and continue to get the same error :-/

| ipkg almost always complains about missing dependencies. it’s annoying to say the least. you can try to bypass this error by using ipkg -force-depends install Источник Ipkg (tutorial)From DD-WRT WikiBrainslayer is working hard to merge the code base of DD-WRT with the OpenWRT firmware. This means that, for the most part, OpenWRT’s package management system, ipkg, is available for DD-WRT. This allows for an easy way to add features not already in the DD-WRT firmware. Since ipkg is a command line program, you will need to either Telnet or SSH into your router to run this utility. You also need Jffs enabled. Contents[edit] Commandline Structure[edit] Usage[edit] Options[edit] Sub Commands[edit] Finding PackagesOpenWRT.org hosts a list of Official Packages, as well as a Package Tracker and openwrt.alphacore.net listing all known packages. Packages from the tracker will usually have to be installed by using as a URI rather than a package name, unless you’ve updated your /etc/ipkg.conf file to point to a different repository. Another source of software for the dd-wrt is here ipkg.nslu2-linux.org, most of the files in this directory works fine on DD-WRT. [edit] Installing ipkg PackagesThe general steps for installing ipkg modules are as follows Then from the command line in the jffs directory, run the following commands: If the package you want is not in the list, substitute the URI of the package for the you want to install. Ex: to install the noip package to ram: Since noip is not in the list, see Finding Packages [edit] Required uClibc installationThere is much confusion about LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting and some programs failing due to uClibc binary incompatibility between system provided uClibc libraries that DD-WRT provides in /lib/ directory and OpenWRT programs that require its own uClibc and is also provided as IPK package. For example http://downloads.openwrt.org/whiterussian/packages/ To assure that program will run stable one must provide compatible uClibc library to the program. It is recommended to install OpwnWRT uClibc manually with This procedure overcomes installation of OpenWRT base-files package that are not required for running ipkg provided programs. [edit] Setting LD_LIBRARY_PATHRunning OpenWRT programs also requires correct setting of the shared library search path. Default shared library search path is specified in /etc/ld.so.conf. But /etc/ld.so.conf is not used if LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set with /etc/profile. To see if LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set or no just enter If unsure or if special paths are used one can also override /etc/ld.so.conf search paths with setting correct LD_LIBRARY_PATH. For example programs that reside in /jffs/bin or /jffs/sbin could be run with the following script openwrt-run.sh that should be located somewhere in the default search path. One shoud use this script like This will assure that program swapon will use correct uClibc library and not use paths provided in /etc/ld.so.conf If you get an error like this: It means you haven’t set file permission to allow execution. Navigate to your file in telnet/SSH, and do this: Now you should be able to run the script fine. [edit] Starting Programs/DaemonsIf you installed some daemons you need to manually activate them, because the openwrt /etc/init.d/ startup method is not (yet?) implemented. One possibility would be to For further Information see Startup Scripts. [edit] What if your jffs partition is full (routers with NO JFFS space avail)You have to enable jffs anyway even if it is useless. and to create some required directory in your Sambashare: Download then the packages directly to your Samba share and type: or download and install at the same time with the same command: You should see some warning messages like these ones: which you can safely ignore. Also may be need command «mkdir -p /jffs/tmp/ipkg» [edit] Use ipkg on DD-WRT 24In my dd-wrt 24, I found cifs included, not smbfs or smbmount as told elsewhere on this page. Here is how I partly solved it: On the Administration webpage, fill in the CIFS Automount options. Create a script with this and set it to be the startup script: ipkg update failed for me, so I did a work-around: I found it’s key when using ipkg and jffs that you are in the jffs directory. In other words: /jffs # ipkg -d root install (end of dd-wrt 24) [edit] Ipkg on StartupSince the available RAM is larger, is it possible to set up a startup script to install an ipkg? That way, each time it’s rebooted the router will automatically download and install the ipkg we need. One way to accomplish this is to write a startup script [edit] Mipsel versus other hardwareDD-WRT now runs on a variety of hardware architectures. Some of the hardware that DD-WRT runs on is incapable of running software compiled for mipsel processors. Examples are Atheros WiSOC based hardware (e.g. LaFonera) and Intel Xscale IXP hardware (e.g. Actiontec MI424WR). If you see error messages that say «not found» or «syntax error» when you attempt to use the package you just installed, this may be your problem. Unfortunately, as of build 13064, the ipkg.conf file in DD-WRT points to repositories that contain mipsel packages even if DD-WRT is running on incompatible hardware. If your hardware requires non-mipsel format packages you will not be able to use ipkg commands that search the web for packages (e.g. update, upgrade and search) unless you modify your ipkg.conf file. You must download the package you want and install it manually. There are optware packages for a variety of hardware at http://downloads.x-wrt.org/xwrt/kamikaze/snapshots/. To install a package on non-mipsel hardware: _ _ .ipk. Источник Dd wrt ipkg update не работает1. Why is this folder read only ? That’s it , I appreciate very much any one responding and I do apologize if I have repeated something already answered elsewhere. thanks, | |

| Your folder is read-only because there is no space left in flash for the jffs file system. Your router is the cheapest of the cheapest — buy hardware that matches the job you want it to do! _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler! | |

Indeed, thanks again!
Or switch to OpenWrt, assumed it’s supported. Worth a try IMO.

Hi,
Will check OpenWrt too. Though after the last reply I am more inclined to buy a new router (with luck I should be able to persuade the dealer to make it expensive too ). thanks for your help,

If you do decide on a new router look at getting one with a Broadcom chipset, then you’ll have tee available without having to worry about ipkg or jffs BS releases: ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/

| Hi Steve, You are right (ofcourse) . We bought the Linksys WRT610N (v2) and put in the dd-wrt.v24-14896_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_wrt610nv2.bin firmware. However, I have not been able to get the iptables to behave as required with the following commands . iptables -A PREROUTING -t mangle -j ROUTE —gw 192.168.1.103 —tee I am perhaps doing something wrong. I also found this post http://www.showeq.net/forums/showthread.php?6240-iptables-tee-for-port-mirroring&s=5a05f8e50a84be8896f9ec6033fd9741&p=44937&viewfull=1#post44937 where this gentleman mentions that iptables worked for him for SVN revision 12424 and failed silently for the one he had before. I know it is a very old build but do you think I should switch back to it (after downgrading to linksys firmware first) ? We do not need the Wireless capabilities in the near foreseeable future, just the regular router function. thanks for taking the time out to read, | |

Erm yea, that won’t work, if i remember tee correctly the parameter goes like this. tee [ -a ] [ -i ] [ File . ] Having problems with port forwarding? Check out Port Forward Troubleshooting for more info.

| Hi Steve, Thanks for replying. Hmmm. you could be right but I am wondering then how did it work for a few people such as the ones mentioned in the last link and http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/10917/Port-Mirroring-Span-Port-Monitor-Port-with-iptables-on-NETGEAR-WGR614L/ here. I have spent the whole day trying to figure this out . is it possible that there might be a bug in iptables implementation in the recent versions (v24 sp2 Build 14929) ? Would you know of an alternative to achieve port mirroring using iptables ? thanks again, | |

Is that really the case.. I have a WNDR3700 with 8MG flash and DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/12/10) std — build 14929 I would think there is enough room, but mine is read only as well. Is this not just an Atheros thing? This is causing me grief as well to get my external usb drive working.. see http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=474715 Thanks,

Did you enable jffs on the Administration -> Management page? Also try enabling clean jffs and then apply settings and reboot. BS releases: ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/

Actually I realize it’s not jffs that is the problem. I am able to write to jffs, but trying to ipkg update gives me a read only error for another directory:
So I am stuck not being able to use ipkg. Thanks,

| After a default installation of ddwrt the entire file system is embedded in the firmware (a squashfs file system). /usr/local/lib actually points to that firmware and is of course readonly. This is not Atheros specific. When you start using ipkg you need to be able to write files in /usr, /bin, /etc and /lib. Источник | |
