I’m already using this version and the only mod I’m using is Custom Knight from mod installer
You could try deleting the save folder (make backups if theres anything in there you care about)
And deleting the install folder for a fully clean install
also redownload the modinstaller incase anything is wrong with it
If that doesnt work you could try clearing the options in your registry if you’re on windows
press windows key + r and type regedit
paste this into the address bar and hit enter
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight\
This contains some progress info like achievements (not the ones you have on steam) and what save file types you can make so you may want to export it in case deleting this doesn’t fix anything
>right click team cherry and click export
>this will make a .reg you can run and it will restore all you deleted
after that you can you can right click team cherry and delete the folder from registry and test if it still crashes

As shown in the GIF, you want to go to the Hollow Knight Discord server [discord.gg] , go to #modding-discussion, click on the pin, then look for the link that says radiance.host/mods/ModInstaller.exe. Or you can just click on that link if you don’t use Discord. I reccomend you put the app in a folder.
Next up, you want to run it. If you are running on Microsoft’s Windows Operating Systems, you may get a warning. Just run it anyway.
Let the app download it’s assets, and you are good to go. Make sure to make backups of your save files. (More on that below)
After all of that, you will be given a list of mods. To use one, you must install it and ensure it is enabled. Some good ones to start with are QOL mods, like enemy Health Bar, Unofficial Patch, Custom Knight, etc. Or you can just go plain crazy enabling Enemy Randomizer and Randomizer so you can buy a Herrah from Isleda like I did. No, seriously, you have no limits. Have fun! And do not forget your Monomon. (Monomon not actually required)
It is simple. Go to C:\users\[YOUR USER]\AppData\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight, and then copy and paste all of the files that start with user(Insert a number from 1-4 here) into your backup folder.
First off, you will need to get a Custom Knight skin here [drive.google.com] or here [drive.google.com] . Get your desire folder that you want. I will use Celeste crystal as an example.
Right click on the pack you want and click ‘Download.’ If it tells you if you want to leave without saving changes, click on leave. This is just a dumb thing about Google Drive.
Now that you have the .zip downloaded, extract it. After that, you want to go into said extracted folder, and go into the folders until you find the one with images inside. Cut that folder, then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Mods\CustomKnight and paste it there.
Open up Hollow knight with the mod active, go into a save file, go to the pause menu, and activate it. Have fun with it!
i figured out how to revert the game to the correct patch but how do i keep it from auto installing the newer updates?
First time mod user here — first off, I did already downgrade to the older patch. When I tried to install the randomizer mod (room or item, not the old one), it automatically began installing other mods — SereCore, Benchwarp, QoL, and Vasi. But when it got to Vasi, I got an error: Unhandled Exception has Occurred, etc, etc. When I tried installing the mod again, it automatically uninstalled SereCore, Benchwarp, and QoL, then I got the same error when it got to Vasi.
I decided to just try the old randomizer, and it installed just fine, but when I started a game with it, I just got a bunch of text over a backdrop of a screen of what looked like somewhere in King’s Pass, so I’m not sure that mod is working as intended. Is this a general computer problem, or is anyone else getting this specifically with the Modinstaller?

The issue is not with installing the mod launcher or mods, I had a fine time with it at first. But about a week ago, one of the mods screwed up my game to the point where no matter how many mods I disabled, the menu would keep loading an option when selected. Save files would also not load.
So I reinstalled the game. Everything was working fine, so I went to the modinstaller set-up so I could re-download/enable the mods. But now mods are not enabling/working when I load up the game.
Am I doing something wrong? Is it because it makes me go to the modinstaller.setup everytime I want to open the mod installer, thus downloading the same thing again and again? Is it because I accidentally changed something in the files? Someone please help.
It didn’t seem to work. I changed the default path to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed, but it kept telling me that it was an invalid shortcut.
I also tried deleting the Mods folder and re-downloading the mods.
Lastly, I really can’t disable mods from the Game Menu. They just don’t pop up. I can’t enable or disable Custom Knight, QoL, nothing. I even checked the options for the «Mod» selection. There was none.
Also, I’d appreciate it if you could clarify where the .exe file for the Modinstaller App is.
I think it was something to do with the Custom Night mod when I was getting some new skins on. I also know that QoL was bugging out my game a few days prior. In the mean time, I’ll try these tactics.
If you don’t mind can you send a screenshot of your mods folder? It should look like this https://imgur.com/NwlYcAX And check the disabled folder for duplicate mods and if there are some delete them, for example if you have a QoL.dll and there is another one in the disabled delete the one in the disabled, i remember that causing me some issues.

Did you know Hollow Knight recently had a version update and the ModInstaller isn’t compatible?
1. Make sure you’re rolled back to the last stable version of Hollow Knight, 1.4.3.1 (under «Betas» in item properties for Hollow Knight in Steam).
2. If you already made sure you’re on 1.4.3.1, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Modding API/Installer.

1) Нажимаем windows + R и вводим в строку которая открылась AppData
2) Заходим в папку LocalLow и ищем папку Team Cherry
3) Заходим в папку Team Cherry, затем в папку Hollow knight
4) Ищем файлы с припиской .dat (на 1 сохранение 2 файла)
5) Копируем файлы в удобную папку (Главное не потерять)
Теперь если сохранение пропадёт то будет возможно восстановить.
Теперь нужно скачать установщик модов.

После открытия установщика откроется окно в котором будет путь установки.
Если путь правильный: С:\Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow knght (у вас может быть немного по другому) тогда нажимаем «Да».
Если путь не правильный, тогда нажимаем «Нет» и выбираем путь к папке Hollow knight (С:\Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow knght)
И так, перейдём к полезным модам.
Мод на показ жизней у мобов
Этот мод показывает жизни у мобов.
Когда вы ударили моба у него над головой появится полоска жизней.
Она не пропадёт пока вы не перезайдёте в комнату или не убьёте моба.
Если у моба много жизней или это босс то полоска появится снизу.
Мод на быстрое перемещение
Этот мод позволяет быстро перемещаться на скамейки. Вы можете переместиться только на скамейку на которой вы сидели.
Debug mod (грубо говоря читы)
При нажатии на F1 открывается консоль.
В консоли можно изменить урон гвоздя, выдать себе все амулеты, способности и предметы.

Randomizer 3 и Enemy Randomizer
Randomizer 3: этот мод перемешивает комнаты и предметы.
Например вы вошли в забытое перепутье а оказались в городе слёз.
Так можно пройти игру но это будет сложно.
Enemy Randomizer: этот мод перемешивает всех мобов и боссов.
Сним играть не очень удобно потому что все мобы перемешиваются и может вместо жука может появится например полый рыцарь.
Мод на улучшение амулетов
Этот мод улучшает амулеты.
Так же этот мод добавляет побочные эффекты от амулетов.
Например амулет быстрый фокус ускоряет зарядку кристального сердца, а глубокий фокус замедляет зарядку.
Амулет тяжёлый выпад увеличивает урон на 15%.
Амулет ловкач увеличивает скорость ходьбы.
Амулет непоколебимое тело убирает анимацию при падении с высоты.
Как вернуться в ванильную версию?
В установщике есть кнопка Revert back to unmoded. Но. она не работает. Она просто закрывает установщик.
А что бы вернуться в ванильную игру нужно зайти в свойства, во вкладку локальные файлы и нажать на проверку целостности файлов. Steam скачает 1 файл и игра станет нормальной.
Так же моды могут конфликтовать. Поэтому комбинируйте моды на страх и риск.
