I have a 260 G2 DM too which was working with a 850 EVO 250GB. But, last week the motherboard died. A HP Tech came and changed the motherboard. Guess what . computer doesn’t boot. I put the latest BIOS firmware, no success. I tried to downgrade the BIOS firmware . it seems to be locked and downgrade is impossible . can’t believe it.

I installed a SSD Samsung 860EVO 500GB on my HP 260-a115nl some weeks ago. It workd perfectly until I updated the BIOS at the latest revision! Now the BIOS dos not start if the SSD is connected. Works if the SSD is not connected.

No chance to downgrade the BIOS!

I have a 260-p133w with this precise problem, trying to install a Kingston SSD.

I’m going to be less generous and say this is not a «bug», it’s a «feature» — just not a feature for us.

It’s highly suspicious that only HP-branded SSD devices work with this. Regardless of wether the price is comparable, this seems very deliberate and shady to me.

Well I am sorry everyone dealt with this ridiculous mess from HP simply because they DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THAT THEIR BIOS WAS INCOMPATIBLE WITH VERY POPULAR MAINSTREAM, MASS PRODUCED, SSD DRIVES. RIDICULOUS. . But I believe I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION! So this is not the easiest for many people but it does work.

1. DO NOT INSTALL ANY NEW SSD UNTIL THIS PROCESS IS COMPLETE!

2. Boot to your current or ANY HD that has Windows installed so you can access the internet

3. Download & install latest BIOS update which should be available here and is version N24 (at time of this writing)

4. Once the update is complete and you have rebooted and gotten into Windows — THEN YOU CAN SWAP TO ANY SSD (including Samsung EVO)

Пару месяцев назад установил на ноут ssd m2 (42×22)на 120gb. Поставил на него windows 10, а старый hdd остался как хранилище для файлов без ОС. Все было хорошо, ноут летал, пока внезапно не появился синий экран с ошибкой 0xc000000e. Я тогда ничего не устанавливал и не обновлял, просто в одном окне играла музыка а в другом я чатился в телеграме.

Появился синий экран с надписью:

you PC/Device needs to be repaired

и 4 выбора действия:

enter (при нажатии ничего не происходит, только мигает экран)

F1 (перезагружается и все по новой)

F8 (при нажатии ничего не происходит, только мигает экран)

esc (перезагружается и все по новой)

Перестал видеть ssd. Пробовал восстановить систему с помощью флешки с которой ранее и была установлена 10ка на ssd но не находит сам ssd. Автоматическое восстановление не помогает. Прописывал в консоле по гайдам(fixmbr, fixboot, rebuildbcd) — не помогает и с помощью recovery drive — не помогает. Сканирование SFC и CHKDSK показывает CD-rom, флешку, efi и не показывает ssd. Восстановление образа через Dism тоже не помогает. Все советы по консоли не помогают т.к. просто перестал быть виден ssd. В биосе все настройки такие же как и стояли. Вынимал ssd и ставил обратно, старый жосткий тоже снимал и ставил обратно. Пробовал все перечисленное выше со снятым hdd и наоборот. Думал может это гнездо под ssd лагает и под разными углами фиксировал ssd, включал и проверял все заново — не помогло. Просто внезапно перестал видеть ssd.

Hello, anyone with such combination of HW? I’ve got latest BIOS (released 12/04/2017), lastest FW for SSD, but computer can’t start, even go to Setup or Boot menu. Num/Caps-Lock works, if I hit F9/F10 it states «Setup» or «Startup menu», but nothing happen. SSD itself is working fine in other PC (even the old HP one — rp5700), also when attached via USB adapter. Currently I’m using Kingston Fury 120 GB SSD without any issues. I’ve tried older revision of 850 EVO 250 GB (V2, I’ve got V3), but same result. Thanks for any hints.

I’ve got exactly the same problem and the bad thing is that i’ve got 14 machines to upgrade and install.

Please HP, fix this ASAP!

I’ve «solved» it in a very special way — sent back the Samsung and ordered Intel 545s. Similar performance and costs few euros more. Don’t have a time.

I have the same problem, stuck at the black screen. No chance to go into BIOS (latest) or anything else. I tried 2 SSDs, both working on desktop PCs.

I had the exact same problem. Here is my story regarding this issue and how I fixed it.

I bought a brand new HP 260 G2 Mini PC. I also bought a new Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD to install on my new mini pc. I had great experiences with Samsung SSD’s in the past so I thought this experience should be no different.

I connected my new Samsung SSD to my new mini PC. I turned on the PC, and the same black screen showed up. I couldn’t get past the black screen. The computer just froze up when it got to this black screen.

I put the Samsung SSD in another working computer of mine to see if the drive is bad. The drive was easily recognized on the other computer, so obviously the drive was not bad at all. I tried formatting the drive and put it back in the HP 260 G2 to try it again. Same frozen black screen.

I called HP tech support. After spending MANY hours on the phone with them, they sent out a tech guy to replace my motherboard. The tech guy came out and did that. Nothing changed. The Samsung drive still did not work on the new machine.

I called HP tech support again. After spending another couple hours on the phone and talking to the supervisor, he concluded that the drive was just not compatible with the HP 260 G2. I asked him what drives are compatible with this machine. He said there is no list of compatible drives, but he said an HP branded SSD should be compatible.

I called Samsung. I spent an hour on the phone with a support agent. I tried to change bios options and tried other things. Nothing worked. They told me there is nothing they can do and that the drive may not be compatible.

I even took it to my local Best Buy geek squad to have them take a look. They couldn’t do anything and said to try a different brand SSD.

By this time, I spent probably 16 hours of my time on this stupid problem. Instead of wasting more of my time by trying other branded drives, I decided just to buy an HP SSD since I knew that if that didn’t work on this machine, nothing else will and something must be wrong with the machine. I bought an HP S700 256 GB PRO SSD. I found a great deal for a new one on Amazon.

I received this drive in the mail and I immediately tried it to see if it will work. I connected it to my new PC and turned it on. On the very first try, the computer recognized the drive and it went straight to the installation screen. I installed Windows on the machine and everything worked fine.

The HP tech support agent, the Samsung support agent, and the Best Buy geek squad agent were all correct. For some reason, the Samsung SSD is not compatible with the HP 260 G2.

In conclusion, I had the HP SSD drive for a few weeks now and my HP 260 G2 is running great. The HP SSD is running virtually as good as a Samsung SSD would. I am satisfied with the HP SSD and I would recommend it to anyone.

The problem is in the WIFI module. There are 2 solutions:
1. Simply disable it physically
2. Contact the warranty in HP

Получили партию данных ПК. Процентов 90% имеют дефект кратковременного отключения экрана (чёрный экран на 1-2секунды) плюс дрожит изображение (“срыв строки” горизонтально сдвигаются строки толщиной в пиксель в право). Проблема только с ПК, так как использовали для диагностики разные мониторы и способы подключения VGA и HDMI. Проблема оказалась во встроенном модуле WI-FI. В BIOS он не отключается, но при отключении его в диспетчере задач изображение нормализуется (иногда ещё нужно перезагрузить систему). В общем, хороший аппарат для бюджетных задач. Но обязательно отключение WI-FI (а оно нам и не нужно).

Run into that issue with my HP 260 G2 DMs. One monitor would go dark for a few seconds. I rolled the graphics driver back one revision and the monitors stopped blinking. For me it happened on both dual and single monitor setups.

не помогает отключение в диспетчере ни физическое, некоторым машинкам уже второй год, но дефект проявился только в середине октября ’19 года, причем повально, я бы думал всё-таки не в железную сторону, возможно, дело в каком-то обновлении windows.

обновление BIOS (на 02.17 Rev.A от 8 ноября) также не исправило ситуацию.

На всякий случай оставлю свою версию по исправлению.
Wi-Fi можно отключить через BIOS – он там отключается через отключение M.2 слота.
Отремонтировать Wi-fi можно, вроде, переложив длинный антенный провод вдоль двух других стенок – вдоль передней и правой, избегая резких изломов, а лишнюю длину “урезать” дополнительной дугой, желательно вдоль передней стенки.
Для ремонта придётся полностью разобрать всю систему.
