Создание .gitignore в intellij

Не могу создать .gitignore . Не понимаю, что делаю не так. Сам файл создается, но он не читается как файл гита. Проект скопировал со своего репозитория на гитхабе, сейчас работаю не на своем компе, но git установлен и работает.

Нет такой сущности как «файл гита». Иконка на файле с именем .gitignore появляется только в вашей среде разработки от IntelliJ, если в ней установлен плагин .ignore. Вероятно, на одной рабочей машине этот плагин установлен, а на другой — нет (оказалось, что он был установлен, но не работал).

Сама программа git всегда читает содержимое этого файла, если находит его. Если при этом она, как вы пишете, «не выполняет своих функций и не игнорирует файлы в коммите», то это потому, что файлы добавлены в индекс до того, как вы создали файл .gitignore . Читайте, как это исправить.

Файл .gitignore учитывается сразу, как только он появился в рабочей области проекта. Но, как и любой другой значимый файл, его желательно версионировать (сохранять в коммите).

.gitignore only ignores newly added (untracked) files.

If you have files that have already been added to the repository, all their changes will be tracked as usual, even if they are matched by .gitignore rules.

To remove that folder from the repository (without deleting it from disk), do:

add .idea/ to .gitignore file

run this commands in terminal to complete mission 🙂

To remove the «fatal: pathspec ‘.idea’ did not match any files» just use if the dir still returns as untracked:

git clean -f -d .idea

For those of you getting fatal: pathspec ‘.idea’ did not match any files :

You just have to include the full path to the .idea folder.

So first, do a git status , which should show you the path to .idea given where you currently are.

Then, include the path in the command w0lf suggested: git rm —cached -r example/path/to/.idea

Remove the file from the repository run below command

now update your gitignore file to ignore .idea folder run below command

add the .gitignore file

If, after following steps from other answers, you still find that your instance of git running in bash or powershell just keeps on tracking the .idea/ folder, then try this!

I discovered that Jet Brains IDE’s have their own .gitignore, and run their own instance of git that will override your .gitignore settings!

What I did to fix this was to navigate to /.idea/.gitignore, and change its contents to:

so as to ignore everything in the folder.

Настройка Git в Intellij IDEA

Сегодня мы рассмотрим простой способ настройки Git в Intellij IDEA. Прочив это руководство вы сможете коммитить и пушить изменения в проекте на ваш репозиторий на GitHub.

1. Intellij IDEA нажимаем VCS -> Import into Version Control -> Create Git Repository

В появившемся окне выбираем корневой каталог проекта и нажимаем ОК

2. Идем на GitHub и создаем новый репозиторий с желаемым названием

3. Идем в закладку Changes (в нижнем левом углу Intellij IDEA) или с помощью комбинации клавиш Alt + 9 и нажимаем правой кнопкой мыши на файлах под названием Unversioned Files, далее в появившемся контекстном меню выбираем Add to VCS

4. В закладке Changes нажимаем правой кнопкой мыши на пункте Default и в появившемся контекстном меню выбираем Commit Changes

5. В появившемся окне в отделе Commit Message пишем вразумительный комментарий к коммиту, галочкой выбираем нужные для коммита файлы (или вовсе не трогаем отмеченные файлы) и жмем на кнопку Commit. Все, файлы закоммитились на локальный репозиторий.

6. Теперь закоммитим на удаленный репозиторий (мы его создавали в пункте 2). Для этого зайдите на страницу репозитория на github, например: https://github.com/username/reponame, где

username — ваш логин на github

reponame — название вашего репозитория

Теперь найдите на странице репозитория блок HTTPS clone URL и скопируйте ссылку в буфер обмена.

7. Теперь идем в закладку Terminal (в нижнем левом углу Intellij IDEA) и пишем следующие команды:

To generate new ignore file, just click on File > New or use Alt + Insert shortcut and select .ignore file element.

• duplicated entries (checks if entry is defined more than once)
• covered entries — entry is covered by more general one
• unused entries
• incorrect syntax (regexp rules)
