Modlauncherwpf xcom2 не работает
I posted this in another discussion, and it seemed to work for some people. It definitely works for me though. I cannot guarantee that it will work for everyone.
I just decided to copy everything over into a new discussion, since it may get lost in all the comments.
Here’s a temporary way to play the game.
-Create a shortcut for ModLauncherWPF.exe
-Right-click the shortcut, go to Properties.
-Under Shortcut, Target, add in «-noRedScreens -review» behind «. \Launcher\ModLauncherWPF.exe»
-it should look something like this, «. \steamapps\common\XCOM 2\Binaries\Win64\Launcher\ModLauncherWPF.exe» -noRedScreens -review
Modlauncher should launch fine and you should be able to play the game with mods normally.
-noRedScreens
starting the game via the shortcut will cause it to launch in debug mode. debug mode will have this annoying red screen thingy that will distract you from game play. this line helps to prevent that.

Just played for about an hour and I can confirm that the mods are working fine for me.
No crashes or whatsoever as well. The days before it was really buggy and I had multiple crashes, read that some people experienced recent crashes as well, maybe that is what led to the error everyone experienced here today.
well, if you launch the exe as administror it does work with mod i retract my comment.
glad i found a working bypass before launch break so i can play 🙂
For those whose mods are not working, maybe you can try this.
Edit: Achievements are working fine as well, if anyone is wondering.

Run all the .exe files in
Steam\SteamApps\common\XCOM 2\_CommonRedist
Steam\SteamApps\common\XCOM 2\VCRedist
Steam\SteamApps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\VCRedist
For the first one there’re bunch of subfolders to go through, the DirectX one is dxsetup.exe
There’s probably some duplication in the Visual C++ ones (VCRedist) but I forget which folder is which version. If everything’s fine Windows won’t install so it’s OK to re-run them.
Okay so let’s see first of all I tried an uninstall and reinstall after wiping my config folders for WOTC and XCOM2. Secondly I’ve tried running both steam and the program as administrator. Thirdly I killed my antivirus. I ran this and it had the installer which is giving me «repair microsoft visual C++ 2010 x86 redistributable to its original state» and «remove microsoft visual C++ 2010 x86 redistributable from this computer» as my two options. Now, obviously I am not about to do just that until I get some more information on what’s going on.
I also have a collection of different redscreen errors I screenshotted which I got after trying to run both applications as administrator directly from the steam folder. The main menu then gives me what looks like a dev’s debugging tool screen. I can play the game this way but immediately after trying to move or take any action or do anything it gives me another redscreen. It’s almost like it’s trying to find and missing tons and tons of different assets, voice, all sorts of different things. It «works» but I can’t possibly play a game like this. It all started happening after I switched from my old GPU to a newer one so it’s somehow related to that I think. I have not found a single helpful comment so far anywhere except possibly for this one.

Scratch that I tried repairing C++ and it did absolutely ♥♥♥♥ all to address my issue
If steam says the game files are fine when verifying, then its a problem with your system. From the sounds of it, I would take a look at your drivers first. Changing cards always causes issues if you do not remove drivers for the old one properly, particularly if changing brands.
I would suggest using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove all graphics drivers and then do a clean install of the most updated driver for your graphics card.

I can get the game itself to run by going to the executable and running that manually. I think it’s a pathing issue or something to do with some cached file but I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and idk why people keep saying «hit verify» Do people on here seriously think it’s never occurred to anyone trying everything to click that it’s like dealing with Microsoft tech support
Speaking of tech support I think I’m done asking people here. I’m now looking for a way to physically contact Firaxis/2K games.

The problem is that modlauncherWPF itself will not launch at all anymore. I’m beginning to suspect this was an OS issue with going from 8 to 8.1, since iirc multiple people reported this problem with updating their OS. The problem is hitting «play» on steam immediately takes me to that and I get «modlauncherWPF has stopped working.» I can still run the game itself and think I might’ve found a way to fix the redscreen errors and weirdly being taken into what looks like debugging mode for a dev but even if I get all that fixed it won’t launch through steam, disables achievements, won’t let me use mods etc

I should point out for anyone having redscreen errors what best I can see is that does actually fix it, if you don’t mind having to manually go through a shortcut. I’m reinstalling a mod to check something. The actual core problem of ModLauncherWPF has stopped working remains unresolved, and running the exe manually gets a steamworks has failed to initialize.

И так, наш спаситель — AML, он же Alaternative Mod Launcher.
Пользоваться им легко и задорно, а в отличии от оригинального лаунчера он ещё и покажет ошибки и конфликты в несовместимости модов друг с другом.
P.S Как написал Rost Kurt, спасибо ему, AML работает только на WIndows 10, на более ранних системах работать не будет

Потом создай папку на дестопе и перекинь все файлы туда
Всё готово, снизу находится раздел, где я показываю, как этой шайтан-машиной пользоваться
Так, со всего перечня файлов на понадобиться только один (XCOM2 Launcher)
Внутри мы видим что-то типа такого:
(Oбрати внимание на последнюю категорию, она показывает предназначен мод для WOTC или нет, но если ты знаешь что он будет работать и не вызовет ошибок, смело игнорируй эту надпись)
Потом нам нужно перейти в настройки, они находятся вот тут:
Видим такое окно:
1. Это строка в которой указывается директория твоего XCOM — папка с игрой
2. Это строка в которой указывается директория модов — папка с модами
3. Активные аргументы для игры, эквивалентно «Параметрам запуска» в Стиме
4. Быстрые аргументы, заложенные разработчиками AML, чтобы твои ручки не устали писать их заново в верхнюю строку.
(У меня, к слову, почему-то не работают быстрые аргументы, если у тебя тоже — просто скопируй их в верхнюю строку)
И если у тебя игра в Стиме, то тебе вообще делать тут ничего не нужно, может только нужные параметры включить/отключить, так как программа умная и сама нашла все нужные директории.
А если же у тебя пиратка или, что-то пошло не так и/или по какой-то причине сама прога не может найти игру, то директорию придётся указывать вручную.

In there you’ll find a program called. ModLauncherWPF.exe
run it (you might have to run it as administrator)
Enable all your mods that you want.
Now im not sure if you have to click play or not. i did.
you’ll end up ingame with most likely a big red screen just right click out of that to see the menu (which looks real different then normally) top right has character pool to see if your cosmetic mods are working if you like.
Just exit out. and start the game normally with the normal shortcut and the new ♥♥♥♥♥♥ launcher. and my mods were still enabled when i got in the game again.
Did not work, atleast not for me.

Nevermind, you were correct. I needed to run as admin. It opened the old launcher. I’ll try it out shortly. Thanks.
Not sure how it works, but it does. Too bad for me I scrapped my last playthrough. Not looking forward to starting Legend again.

I tried this. It worked. How did you find out about it?
I tried this. Got the red screen, hit escape, which bought me into what looked like a dev menu, hit the «Final shell menus,» which brought me to the main normal screen (with the exit button). Exited, attempted to run using the new launcher. No dice, same issue as before, clicking «play» on the launcher doesn’t actually even attempt to start the game.
Went back, did it again, tried playing from there; no luck; redscreen errors, had to tab out an mnually shut down.
Attempt to run by double-clicking the XCom2 app in Steam/SteamApps/common/XCOM2/Xcom2-WarOfTheChosen/Binaries/Win64.
Same result, no dice.
I have neither X-Com Chimera nor Civ IV, for reference (And even if I had been considering them, I sure as frack wouldn’t be now, this is an APPALLING level of incompetance.)
