Hi, Live is not appearing as a D&D target when dropping from explorer, Windows 7.

Go back to 8.3 and it’s fine.

I’ve tried this with Live open on it’s own and then with Soundforge open, so I can clearly see Live is not a target when dragging the file over it, but when I then move on to Soundforge I can drop it in there.

I can’t reproduce the problem dragging 16/24 bit waves to the Live gui under Windows 7
Which formats are you dragging?, is it compressed mp3, ogg or alike?.

Hi. Hmmmm. i’m dragging a 16 bit wav back into Live that I’ve just exported from Live.

I’ve tried dragging .mp3s and files from other locations aswell with no joy.

Please upload a few of the problematic files and send me the download link, we are not able to reproduce the problem and need info.

— If you are using windows 7, do you have admin rights. (locate the live.exe, right click and see which rights you have to run this application)
— I see you tried dragging from other locations, did you try from a flash drive or USB stick?

It’s literally happening with all audio files.

Live is set to run as administrator. This is happening on both Windows 7 installations I have (one is Pro, one is Ultimate)

The file loads fine by dnd from the windows browser here. To get closer to this problem please contact support at support@ableton.com since there is something on your system that would prevent this from working — which is not a general audio file nor Live problem. They have a chance of inspecting your system. I hope to see this analyzed and fixed.

Hey, I’ve run into an issue. I can’t drag or drop anything into Ableton 10 (10.0.6). Anytime I try, I just get a circle with a cross through it (the universal sign for no.) It’s always been this way ever since i’ve upgraded from live 9 but it wasn’t the end of the world. I was cool with just using the browser on the side. I actually prefer it, but i’ve been trying to drag and drop audio samples into different plugins and it won’t let me do that either, unless I run them in stand alone outside of ableton, and before anyone asks, yes i’ve tried running ableton in administrator mode, but the problem still persists. I’ve actually been dealing with this issue for about a year now. I have tried finding help before and gave up. I found that if I «copy» and then «paste» the file then it works, but i can’t drag and drop. However, I found that ableton won’t link an audio sample to it’s analyzed file if i copy and paste them in, so i have to manually type in their correct bpm which can be a pain for samples with time changes.

I’m running windows 10 pro (up-to-date) on the MSI GT73e vr Titan Pro.

If anyone could help me out i’d be thankful.

Не работает Drag and Drop Windows 10

Как и в предыдущих версиях системы функция Drag and Drop после внесения некоторых изменений может не работать в Windows 10. Она позволяет перетаскивать файлы с одного окна в другое или с одной папки в другую. Так можно не только выполнять перемещение, но и открыть его с помощью сторонней программы. Некоторые обновления как ОС, так и ПО, и различные твикеры могут поломать эту функциональность.

Эта статья расскажет, что делать, когда не работает Drag and Drop Windows 10. Все пользователи пользуются перетаскиванием файлом, и не знаю, что в этой функции есть название. Значительно проще перетянуть нужный файл в определённое расположение, чем искать соответствующие пункты в меню.

Не работает перетаскивание (Drag and Drop) Windows 10

Функция Drag and Drop перестаёт работать в приложениях, запущенных с разными правами с включённым UAC. Бывает действительно достаточно отключить контроль учётных записей. Хотя снижение его уровня также может решить проблему.

Например, перетаскивание не работает из приложения запущенного с обычными правами в приложение запущенное с правами администратора. Если же нужно перетащить файл hosts из файлового менеджера Total Commander в классический Блокнот, тогда оба приложения запускайте от имени администратора.

Запустите программы от имени администратора Windows 10. Это действительно очень важно. Скорее всего, проблема будет уже решена. Но всё же есть дополнительные рекомендации, когда даже права администратора не помогают.

Перезапустите классический проводник

Как ни странно, но в некоторых ситуациях позволяет решить проблему перезапуск проводника в Windows 10. В чистой системе не возникает проблем с проводником и системой в целом. Если же установлено множество стороннего софта, ситуация может быть совсем иной.

1. Запустите классический Диспетчер задач нажав сочетание Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
2. Во вкладке Процессы выделив Проводник нажмите кнопку Перезапустить.

Отключите контроль учётных записей

Контроль учётных записей (UAC) предотвращает изменения, вносимые в систему опасным ПО. По умолчанию в настройках установлено уведомлять только при попытках приложений внести изменения в компьютер. При попытке запустить вредоносное приложение, оно будет заблокировано в целях защиты Windows 10.

1. В поиске найдите и откройте Изменение параметров контроля учётных записей.
2. Перетяните ползунок в положение Никогда не уведомлять (при изменении параметров).

Обновите операционную систему

Обычно обновление ОС исправляет битые (проблемные) файлы путём их замены. В большинстве случаев рекомендуется обновить систему до последней версии. Даже если была ошибка через неудачное обновление, в следующем она исправляется. Как было с песочницей (Windows Sandbox), которая не запускалась на определённых конфигурациях компьютера.

1. Перейдите в Параметры > Обновление и безопасность > Центр обновления Windows.
2. Нажмите кнопку Проверить наличие обновлений, и дождитесь завершения его установки.

После чистой установки операционной системы все функции работают как положено. Это касается только оригинального образа последней версии Windows 10. Рекомендуем проверить целостность системных файлов и выполнить чистую загрузку Windows 10. И теперь можете проверять функциональность Drag & Drop.

Функция Drag and Drop работает в большинстве приложений по умолчанию. А в программе VirtualBox её можно при желании включить отдельно в настройках. Она поддерживает перетаскивание файлов с виртуальной машины на компьютер.

I’ve recently upgraded to Abe10 and am using Mac OSX 10.11.6

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro11,3
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 16 GB

I’m trying trying to drag and drop audio files direct from a ‘finder’ window into audio tracks in Ableton and more often than not this results in a frozen-like mouse state.

When doing so, the cursor turns into a circle with a diagonal line through it (like a ‘no entry’ sign) and although I see a ‘grey-ed’ out version of the audio clip (as if it is being imported) it doesn’t actually populate the audio track and when i move the cursor the ‘ghost’ clip just follows the cursor around instead as if I’ve not released my mouse click. When in this state, if I hover over the ‘mix/edit window’ or ‘show/hide browser’ toggles Abe responds as if I’m clicking that too; essentially giving the impression that Abe thinks my mouse button (click) is still held down even though it isn’t.

The only way I’ve found past this ‘locked-up’ state is to close Ableton, but this is by no means a solution as the problem re-occurs when I re-boot.

(An obvious suggestion would be to use the file browser instead, but I cannot audition audio clips efficiently this way; particularly as I can’t scroll through longer clips or songs.)

Is this a known issue with Abe10? . Can anyone recommend a fix?

I have the same problem. Running in admin too. Version 10. I have controlled folder access enabled but have allowed through the following:

ableton index.exe
ableton web connector.exe
ableton live 10 standard.exe
ableton swapper.exe

I was able to drag stuff in version 8. What’s the issue?

It is the file explorer that has to be running as admin, not Live.

You can’t drag from a non-admin app into a admin app.

If you set Live to run as admin, then any app you want to drag files from into Live has to be running as admin too.

That’s how OS security works.

Live doesn’t even need admin permissions (and only runs as admin with user intervention).

IMO it is simpler to just run Live as non-admin, it is the default.

How do i set the file explorer on a MAC to not run as admin ? please help. Losing my fucking mind seeing all my vocal clips empty and getting a message saying(THIS SAMPLE CONTAINS NO AUDIO DATA) All after running the most recent mac update.

I doubt trying to solve a problem on a Mac by attempting to apply a Windows solution to it is going to be very successful.

The two operating systems are very, very different.

Finder runs under the privileges of the account that has launched it. Which happens when someone logs on to that account. To prevent Finder running with administrator privileges create a user account that isn’t an administrator one and try using that.

I have no problem dragging mp3s into Live if the account I use is an administrator one.

Is dragging and dropping mp3s into Live your problem, or is it something else?

Did you ever figure this out. Same exact thing happened to me! Around the same date too. I haven’t been able to find a permanent fix.
However, somehow I am able to drag only small samples onto my projects, but all past projects cannot be added to and audio is gone

It`s simply a shame. In the past to drag and drop any files from the Windows Explorer to Ableton you need to open Ableton as what you be logged on in your windows OS. If you logged in as Admin in Windows, open Ableton with admin permissions and you can drag and drop any file. If not, don`t open it with admin permissions.
Nowadays (with ableton 10 suite) I run my Windows 10 as Admin, but need to open ableton without admin permissions to drag and drop samples directly.
Really, beside running a program not as admin in windows could cause other issues, this is damn confusing.
Ableton, please get in contact with microsoft and fix this. Thanks.

P.S. also Samples/Folders are not shown in added Libraries if combination of permissions is not as ableton is programed.

Issue is in Windows and not Live. Affects all software so may want to contact MS yourself on this one.

It has to do with how the system and user accounts interact. The whole explorer is run as a logged in user so all applications also have to run as that user IF you want the programs to be able to pass information. So if you want to use DnD between explorer and an application, they BOTH have to be launched as a user or BoTH launched as Administrator. AFAIK an account with admin priv does not act as the «Administrator», it is still a user, so you do not enable admin for the launching of a program.

To put it in a more simple way, if you have issues like denied access of something, just check and try invert the admin option. if it’s checked, unchech etc. Best way to learn is to do.
