ShowRaceMenu | ShowRaceMenu Alternative

Data/Scripts:
ChangeRaceEffectScript.pex
QF_ChangeRaceQuest_010012C7.pex
ShowRaceMenuFixQuestPlayerScript.pex
3. Удалите файл ShowRaceMenuAlternative.esp в папке Data в игре

Why is this command still so buggy?
I like most enjoy changing around my character’s appearance. Hair, Skin tone, etc.
But half the time the command make’s the game freeze | Not Respond.

Heard Having Multiple hair mods can be a factor in this. (why?)

Even Galathil (npc) added in the DLC can cause this issue.

What are other reason’s the game would Freeze | not respond?

Just trying to narrow down the list,
Because this is like the 4th time reinstalling.
all i use are armor, hair, texture, lighting mods really.

The console isn’t bugged. It is a powerful tool that changes game parameters indiscriminately. It is brainless and executes the commands you input. If you have mods that alter character stats and appearance then input varying console commands, problems arise if these instructions conflict.

The following warnings and notes should not be taken lightly.

«Warning: Use console commands with caution! It is easily possible to mess up your game if you modify settings at the console. Even if short term the game functions normally, you may later discover that you have made it impossible to complete a quest and therefore you cannot proceed normally; fixing that problem can then make new glitches pop up elsewhere. Create a permanent saved game before experimenting with the console. If you need to use the console to fix a glitch, try to use the least powerful command possible.»

«Note: Using this command to alter one’s race will reset skills and health/magicka/stamina to default levels. This command can be safely used to alter a character’s appearance without causing any unwanted side-effects as long as race is not changed. However, it should be noted that upon completing your changes and choosing a name for your character, all temporary active effects (such as Gift of Charity or shrine blessings) will be removed. Racial resistances will no longer be listed in Active Effects until the game is loaded from the main menu, at which time racial resistances will be automatically reapplied. Permanent active effects such as those from guardian stones or perks will not be lost. Active effects granted from enchanted items will not be listed until the items are re-equipped.»

SE Racemenu not opening/working

  • I’ve tried many different solutions from other forums where it was solved but they didn’t work here. Racemenu seems to install but using showracemenu only brings up the old classic menu. Have made sure SKSE is correct version, tried enabling one .esp at a time, and have a clean Skyrim install, only SkyUI and SKSE. Tried both Vortex and MO2. If anyone could help, thanks!

Just checked that and it was not ticked, but still doesn’t work. Showracemenu brings up the regular classic one.

    Now SkyUI doesn’t work either

  • Is Racemenu being loaded after SkyUI?

(in Main Menu -> Mods -> Load order

in the file Plugins.txt which is typically located in Local Settings\Application Data\Skyrim Special Edition ?)

Is your game LE or SE?

Considering that you used different mod managers, it makes sense to find all instances of the file Plugins.txt — searching this name in the whole disk — and to compare them. E.g., there may be one in AppData\Roaming\Vortex\skyrimse\profiles etc.

I have SE. Also found out I still have FNIS installed, should I try uninstalling it?

Vortex plugins.txt says # Automatically generated by Vortex
    *SkyUI_SE.esp
    *RaceMenu.esp
    *RaceMenuPlugin.esp
    *FNIS.esp

The other plugins.txt in local settings says # This file is used by Skyrim to keep track of your downloaded content.
    # Please do not modify this file.
    *FNIS.esp

In the in-game mod menu, racemenu is loading before SkyUI in the list but I can’t get the list to move the order. As soon as I click done it moves right back and doesn’t change any order.

  • Last year, when I was beginning to play in SE, I met a very similar problem with the pair SkyUI/Racemenu. It resolved so quickly that I don’t remember how exactly ; Racemenu loading after SkyUI is one thing that I do remember (and see now in my order). So, AFAIK, we need to exclude Racemenu loading before SkyUI as the cause of the problem. I recommend to:

    1) make a backup of the Skyrim’s plugins.txt

    2) make it equal to the Vortex’s plugins.txt

    3) launch the game, make sure that Racemenu is moved after SkyUI in Main Menu -> Mods -> Load order and that both — SkyUI and Racemenu — have been ticked by the game (if you have to tick there any of the installed mods manually, it is often a symptom of some problem)

I don’t have FNIS installed; I think it can’t affect the work of SkyUI and Racemenu.

Well after doing that, it won’t even launch the game. Changed the Skyrim plugins back to only FNIS and then it starts.

  • It should not be so. Different plugins.txt are not normal. Yes, please, rollback Skyrim plugins.txt as it was, and then, try to:

    1) Uninstall (completely; not just disable) Racemenu, then SkyUI via Vortex —> Vortex plugins.txt should become equal to Skyrim one

    2) Reinstall SkyUI via Vortex —> SkyUI should appear in Skyrim plugins.txt

    3) Check that SkyUI is ticked and works

    4) Reinstall Racemenu —> Racemenu should appear in Skyrim plugins.txt and Vortex plugins.txt should become equal again to Skyrim one

    5) Check that Racemenu is ticked, loaded after SkyUI and works

    6) If Racemenu is loaded before SkyUI again, try to move its plugin after SkyUI plugin in Vortex (Plugins -> Manage Rules)

That actually worked! Didn’t have to do step 6. So far the menu seems to be there and SkyUI works too. Now I have UNP and other mods to install, racemenu was the base mod for all those I was trying to get to work! Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
