Почему не работают хитсаунды тф2

I screamed into my own mic and recorded it.
Created a .wav of it.

I went to my tf2 folders. And created a few more as I was being told.
tf>custom>customhitsound>sound>ui
and that’s where I placed my hitsound.

I went to a non-valve server. Put my hitsound on default and it didn’t work.
I watched a couple of tutorials which did the same thing as I did.

Can anyone see my error?

OK, so I found the document, and there are a few things you need to check. What @we are we are walmart (editing this post: they changed their name to @gene.png now) said about the frequency is correct. I’m going to copy and paste this line of text from my document:

So I know how to do this in my audio editing program, but I’m not sure how to do it on other ones, and you may not have the same audio editing program that I have. In mine, which is wavepad by NCH software, you need to export the file as an audio file, and then it will bring up a dialogue box which will allow you to change the frequency and «16 bit and stereo.» If, after trying this, it still doesn’t work, there are some things to double check just in case, such as making sure the file is called «hitsound.wav» (no capital letters, no spelling erros, .wav format, etc.) And if it STILL doesn’t work, the only other thing I can think that would be wrong is the directory. The directory I’ve always used that has worked for me is this:

ALSO another thing to note is that when you use a hitsound, it creates a file (I can’t remember the extension,) that is I think in the sound folder? The one just before the ui folder. You’ll need to delete that to refresh hitsounds and stuff.

TLDR; Make sure everything is correct, the audio file is .wav, and the audio file’s frequency is 44100hz and 16 bit and stereo.

I think I had that problem a while back as well. I can’t remember how to fix it, but I wrote up a document for myself on a step-by-step process of how to make a hitsound work. I’m not sure where it is on my computer; I’ll do some looking around and if I find it I will copy and paste the steps into this thread.

On Audacity, open the file and see if the project rate in the bottom left-hand corner says 44100, if it does not: Click on the number, then select 44100, then click the ‘Tracks’ drop down, then click on ‘Mix and render’. Export the audio to the file and type snd_restart into the console, or restart TF2.

Let me know if it works.

Первое что мы сделаем это запустим Тф2.

Затем зайдём в дополнительные настройки и поставим killsound и hitsound на default.

Далее мы должны зайти в файлы ТээФки.
Путь(Если у вас на диске C:): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf

OK, so I found the document, and there are a few things you need to check. in the words of the official TF2 Wiki, a HitSound is:

But, to make it simple, a Hitsound is a sound clip that plays every time you hit another player with any weapon, be it Melee, Projectile or hitscan. The default sound clip sounds like this.

There is also a KillSound, which acts similarly to the hitsound, but will only play when you deliver the finishing blow. The default KillSound sounds like this.

Valve left a few scripts in the game which allow users to change the sound that plays. How do we change them? we’ll come to that, just you wait. But first, we need to turn HitSounds on.

Firstly, start up TF2. When you get to the main menu, you will want to click Adv. Options located at the bottom-right of your screen. (It may be in a different place if you have a custom HUD installed.)

When you click on that, you will be met with a long list of options. We’re interested with the ones at the top.

You will want to change the following settings:

  • Tick «Play a sound every time you Injure an enemy»
  • Tick «Play a sound when one of your attacks kills an enemy»
  • set «Hit sounds» to Default
  • set «Last hit sounds» to Default

And that’s how we get HitSounds working! Now, we just need to make some custom sounds.

There are places where you can find hitsounds created and uploaded by other people. A simple google search should find you something that you might want to use. There was a link to a website that acted as a directory for user-uploaded sounds, but it has since been taken down.

Going in, there are a few things you’ll need to know about your hitsound.

Your sound file must not be bigger than 300KB in size.

Your sound file must be a wave file (.WAV)

Your hitsound should be short and quiet, as they tend to be layered over themselves several dozen times over on weapons such as the minigun or flamethrower

  • Your Killsound should be loud and clearly distinguishable from your hitsoud, so you know you killed someone without having to go and check.
  • To create your hitsound, you will need two things.

    1. A Youtube converter capable of converting to .WAV files (if you’re using youtube clips for your sound)
  • A sound file editing software capable of reading .WAV files, such as Audacity.
  • simply download the audio file, open it up in your software of choice, and then cut the clip and save that as a seperate .WAV file.

These sounds will be installed in the «custom» folder in your TF2 directory. To get there on Windows, you’ll need to Head to:

    This PC/Local Disc (C:)/Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Team Fortress 2/TF/Custom/

    It should look like this:

If the «custom» folder does not exist in the tf folder, you can make one yourself, and call it «custom». The file names mentioned in the scripts that allow us to change hitsounds can be case-senstive, so don’t use capital letters unless you’re told to!

After this, we’ll need to create three more folders. First, create a folder inside the custom folder, call it «my_custom_stuff». Inside the «my_custom_stuff» folder, create another folder, called «sound», and in the «sound» folder, create a final folder named «ui».

Now that you have the folders in place, you can install the sounds. Place your hitsound file inside the «ui» folder, and rename the file to «hitsound» (no capitals!). Do the same for your Killsound file, calling it «killsound».

In the end, you should have something like this:

After that, you’re done! Make sure to load up an offline practice with some bots to test and make sure you did everything correctly.

I Hope this helped you! Happy huntin’, Boys!

-Go through everything you’ve done, making sure your sound files meet the requirements, making sure that your files are in the correct place and are correctly named, with no spelling errors. if you get stuck, compare with the screencaps provided

-The error occurs when the game detects files that are not in the correct place. this means your file directory has a problem. again, compare with provided screencaps.

-Firstly, check advanced options to see if you’ve actually turned hitsounds on. If they are, then your files are either an incompatible format, or too large. Remember, most files over 300KB in size Do Not Work.

-Nothing I can do about that. You’ll have to find a way to increase the volume yourself, or find a sound that’s louder.

-It was either something already covered here, or so incredibly stupid or unhelpful that it made me lose faith in humanity. Next time, either use common sense, or just don’t post at all.

I’ve clicked on those links and checked the URLs. they work perfectly fine. this is something on your end, and not my problem.

Well, that was fun! I made this guide because I couldn’t find any decent ones on the guide section of TF2, so I thought I’d go ahead and make one myself! It took me a few hours to get everything together, but it was fun!
