Bug Description

I use 12.04, Remmina, RDP on dell latitude laptop to Windows XP box, MS Office 2010.

Ctrl-C, Ctr-V, Ctrl-Z yield c,v and z respectively instead of their mapped copy, paste and undo functions. This before and after Jean-Louis’ ppa update.

Further to my previous post. I did a remmina* purge, restart and re-install. I tried keyboard sync disabled then again enabled. I did notice that in settings tab Keyboard, clicking Host key, pressing right or left ctrl+»some_key» yields capitalised some_key as the result displayed. I now believe Remmina is not responding to my Ctrl keys and that is the actual cause of my Ctrl- key problems when working on my win-box.

I have started to temporarily use KRDC and have noticed the same problem that Ctrl-C, Ctr-V, Ctrl-Z yield c,v and z respectively instead of their mapped functions. As I wrote before, this is to a win-XP box. I also tried KRDC and Remmina on a different win-NT box and got the the same Ctrl-key problems.

However xfreerdp has no Ctrl-key problems. Ctrl-c, Ctrl-v, etc., all work.

Using xfreerdp for now.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and Remmina v. 0.9.99.1 to RDP to Windows Server 2003.

To send CTRL+C, CTRL+V , I just SHIFT CTRL+C and SHIFT CTRL+V.

Please ignore my original comment. SHIFT CTRL no longer works for me either in any general sense.

I had clicked in notepad and done some sequence of copy and paste to get this to work.

Will look into xfreerdp. Thanks for mentioning this!

I’ve been experimenting here as I use remmina on Mint 13 to remotely control a media server hooked to my flat screen TV. In a running terminal I used Ctrl-Alt-Z to shell out of a running tail -f /var/log/syslog, then did an fg back into that running tail. Ctrl-alt-c worked to abort it. I was unable to make Ctrl-C or Ctrl-V replacements work using Ctrl-Shift or Ctrl-Alt modifiers. YMMV. HTH. HAND. Praise «Bob»!

As an update to my last, I was able to get Ctrl-V and Ctrl-C to work correctly on text. That’s on remmina 0.9.99.1.

I’ve had the same problem — no Ctrl keys working in Remmina and in VirtualBox as well. Now Ctrl works again in both applications after I disabled the «mouse ping» function:
System -> Preferences -> Mouse -> Show position of pointer when Ctrl key is pressed in the host

Justin Solms, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn’t been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue with the latest version of remmina in Precise, or a later version of Ubuntu, and a supported version of Windows?

If so, please execute the following via a terminal as it will gather necessary debugging information:
apport-collect 1004115

As well, please provide click-for-click steps to reproduce this problem, as well as the OS you were trying to remote into.

Remmina rdp session — no toolbar and keyboard shortcuts don’t work

I’ve just installed Ubuntu 14.10 and I copied over my .remmina folder from my old 14.04 install and all my connections are there however when I connect to remote windows computer through rdp which is displayed fullscreen (which I want) I don’t get the grey toolbar when I move the mouse to the top of the screen. Using the keyboard shortcut F4 to disconnect does not disconnect the session so the only way I can get out if it is to kill it through the system monitor.

Any ideas how to resolve this as it is extremely frustrating?

To exit full screen mode in Remmina, press the right hand side Ctrl key and f together.

It’s apparently fixed but not in the version that ships with yakkety.

As a workaround you can use HostKey + F (HostKey can be set in Edit > Settings > Keyboard and by default is set to the right Ctrl key). HostKey + F toggles the Fullscreen Mode and you can go back to your normal Desktop if the remmina-window is not in fullscreen.

Ok I can disconnect by using CTRL_R + F4 however I cannot get T for show/hide toolbar to work no matter what I key combo I use with it.

I’ve renamed the .remmina folder and and restarted remmina and recreated one of my connections and I get the same issue so I guess it’s a bug (as they still have the reference to the toolbar in shortcuts so doesn’t look like they’ve removed it).

You are correct, even the 1.2 release of Remmina doesn’t properly show the tabs or exit in Ubuntu.

I found that if I use the Right Ctrl + ← I can switch between remote sessions, and that in a Windows Server 2012 session I can bring up the menu to power off and a small menu pops up labeled ‘disconnect.’ Only in that way was I able to shut down the session.

I’m running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with remmina.

You can always use Alt + Tab to get back to your desktop and to the remmina control screen. Just like with Windows.

When you get to the control screen you can use Edit -> Preferences -> Keyboard.

The top option is the «Host key»

Click on the box that says «Control_R» and then it will prompt you to press another key.

In my case, my mini-keyboard does not have a Right-hand Ctrl key, so I press the Left one.

It then displays «Control_L» and I click on «Close» then click on the maximized window which is underneath.

You can also use Alt + Tab to get back to the full-screen session.

Voila, the left-hand Ctrl + f works to un-maximize it and bring back the toolbars on top.

Всем привет, прошу всех знающих людей помочь!
Кратко ситуация: Была установления WMvare workstation. После ее удаления перестал работать RDP клиент Remmina. Думал проблема в программе. Переустановка Remmina не помогла. Установил RDesktop тоже не подключается.

Загрузился с Live usb mint-a. Установленная Remmina заработала. Отсюда делаю вывод, что-то произошло с моими настройками сети.
Интернет работает через вайфай. Google не помог, т.к. не знаю что конкретно искать.
