works fine at first glance but things in queue never finish. what’s wrong.
also it would be nice to be able to see the queue from the account drop-down. currently you have to go to a customizable thing and open customizer to do so.
Like most things on Thingiverse, the website is not the thing that does all the work. It’s asynchronous — marks something down for some other system to do — and if that other system just never picks it up, well.
That’s why search is so crappy — it stopped indexing.
That’s why STL previews don’t appear — it stopped making them.
That’s why analytics disappeared — it stopped recording.
It jhas been down for years, as suggested use OpenScad — you may see results
It is broken. Use Openscad instead, better and faster. See manual from dr Lex: https://www.dr-lex.be/3d-printing/customizer.html
I know that, but would be nice if they would fix.

Customizer IS being fixed

We want to let you know that we are working to fix the Customizer issues. Also, thanks to everyone who has messaged or emailed us with specific links and descriptions to the problems they’ve encountered. This has helped us gather more specific data about what needs to be fixed.
Can’t wait to get Customizer back and running! Thanks!
When do You Think it will work?
Two years and no observable progress. In my opinion Thingiverse should emphasize that the free OpenSCAD application can be downloaded from OpenSCAD.org. When you open a Thingiverse Customizable file with OpenSCAD you can customize it and create a file for slicing. (I have written a short how to guide and included a link in my Customizable things.)
Thingiverse to concentrate on being a resource for thing files and not have a button that pretends to provide the computer horsepower to customize for everyone in the world. All that really is needed is a link that tells people how to customize .scad files on their own computer.
wow, just wow. TWO WHOLE YEARS since they even messaged about this being broken, no message on customizer as well, was going to use this for a school project I now have to explain why I have no assignment.
Thats just BS, if its your assignment, you should know about the subject a few things including that customizer is just a flawed version of OpenSCAD. I guess you are looking for reasons, good student is looking for ways. If I was your teacher hearing this, I’d throw you out.
Hello,
I’ve created a new «Blood Bowl Halfling Referee» file on 12/8/2020: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4679244, and it appears to be visible for some of the community, who can collect it, download it and like it, . But it doesn’t appear in my designs. I have already faced this problem with the design: «Blood Bowl Skink Dilophosaurus # 6» (the lost one :https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4640117and the new one :https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4640128).
Would it be possible for you to recover Blood Bowl Halfling Referee file in my account ? and to merge the two other files ?
Best regards
Hello is customizer working again or not?
me too. i can customize all values and when i click «create thing» i give it a name and then the file is cue. for days. and nothin happens
Is this problem solved, still not working here
Hi. It’s brave of you to put your head above the parapet like this, but also very welcome.
May I suggest that the customiser is towards the least significant end of the long list of site problems.
Perhaps it would be prudent to get some basic site function back as a priority first, then deal with the advanced features later?
I’m a net contributor and, like many others, i am reluctant to upload my new designs as, to be honest, the site with its lack of basic functionality due to the blatant neglect from the owners, just isn’t one i would wish to continue to associate with as a showcase for my work, or recommend to people as a viable resource until things show positive signs of getting back to the usability of 2 years ago.
If Makerbot or it’s new owners don’t value the site then please just shut it down and the users will find alternative resources. It is not doing anyone any good, particularly Makerbot, to remain as it is with a half baked suggestion that there may be still a light on somewhere in the basement and a half baked promise of one day, perhaps living up to its waning reputation as the leader in it’s field.
We purchased a MakerBot printer at work, unfortunately, and it had never-ending issues along with zero help from support. It is basically a paperweight sitting beside an infinitely better and similarly priced Raise3D Pro 2 Plus. Thingiverse was the one thing I thought may still allow MakerBot to contribute to the 3D printing industry. It seems this service is just as broken as all things MakerBot. Sad, as this used to be a great website that I directed hundreds of people to. Oh well, they will continue getting left behind and go bankrupt soon enough, I’m sure.
it has not been working for 2 months for me either in chrome or safari
Cutomizer is not working again, can not open even after Safari Fix.
Running Mac Catalina and Safari, also not working on chrome added the cookie for chrome but still not working.
anybody an Idear what I can do.

Is the Customizer going to be fixed? Should we abandon OpenSCAD?
I have several OpenSCAD-based things that I’d like to post, but Customizer has been failing with the error message below, seemingly for MONTHS from that I’ve bee reading. Is this going to be fixed, or should we just stop trying to post OpenSCAD files on Thingiverse? It would be good if someone from Thingiverse would let us know, so we know what to do.
/usr/local/bin/openscad/openscad: error while loading shared libraries: libCGAL.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
There are other, longer-running threads on this, but like @DKoss, I’m hoping someone at @Thingiverse will actually pay attention to this. Its unreal that this has been going on for so long. Surely, @Thingiverse has IT resources?? I wonder how hard it would be to setup an alternative online OpenSCAD service?
The 27828 thread has an update, allegedly from the Thingiverse team, that they’re working on it, but they clearly aren’t working that hard. If it took me this long to resolve basic library dependencies, I’d be out of a job.
Definitely frustrating. The one thing I share that gets any real attention is broken b/c of the customizer issue.
/usr/local/bin/openscad/openscad: error while loading shared libraries: libCGAL.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I didn’t know it was broken until I started seeing default things generated and someone finally sent me a PM. It took two tries to get a response from Thingiverse support and it was «We know it’s important to our community. We’re working on it.» Nothing more.
The person that PM’d me finally gave up and downloaded OpenSCAD. I’ve nudged them through the raw code a couple times. Still, that’s only b/c they wanted to customize bad enough to leap into an unknown.
(I know I’m preaching to the choir. I’m hoping a moderator or two browses by. ahem)
I’m not posting anything until this issue is resolved or declared abandoned.

Site Issues and Feedback
Thingiverse hacked, 228,102 accounts compromised.
Got this notification from Have I Been Pwned.
Date of breach: 13 Oct 2020
Number of accounts: 228,102
Compromised data: Dates of birth, Email addresses, IP addresses, Names, Passwords, Physical addresses, Usernames
Description: In October 2021, a database backup taken from the 3D model sharing service Thingiverse began extensively circulating within the hacking community. Dating back to October 2020, the 36GB file contained 228 thousand unique email addresses, mostly alongside comments left on 3D models. The data also included usernames, IP addresses, full names and passwords stored as either unsalted SHA-1 or bcrypt hashes. In some cases, physical addresses was also exposed. Thingiverse’s owner, MakerBot, is aware of the incident but at the time of writing, is yet to issue a disclosure statement. The data was provided to HIBP by dehashed.com.
Markdown problems in a thing «Summary»
Hello, why is the text color changing from grey to black in this «Summary»? Manipulating the color with html in markdown is not working. The font was also increasing randomly, but I have fixed this with markdown.

Data takeout options?
Is there a function which allows us to archive all of the data contained in our thingiverse profile?
After the year-old data breach which I have just now found myself in, I no longer feel comfortable maintaining an account or data here, but would find it tedious and potentially a violation of GDPR’s Right of Access to have to scrape all my data back for myself.
I’ve been here supporting Makerbot since 2014, and I’ve never felt more betrayed.
need to be able to block people
we need to be able to block people, there are p**nbots on this website and I am a minor
Unable to log in
Can’t log in to my account on any device, using any browser. I’ve cleared cache and everything I can think of. Is this to do with the data breach? My data was no compromised according to haveibeenpwned. I’ve also tried to view my account page by manually entering it into the search bar and it seems the page has been wiped?
paypal me username problem
I am trying to add my paypal me username to my profile, but when I save I got an error message that says I have to enter a valid username.
My username is @reidarvik at paypal me.
Is there just a delay in time or is there anything else I have done wrong.

How to fix Thingiverse Customizer not working
In this article I will explain how to work around the broken Thinginverse Customizer and how to customize the underlying OpenSCAD models on your local PC.
3d models for woodworking are never static. When creating a floating tenon you want to be able to change its width and if we print a guide bushing the distance of the screw holes has to match your router.
FreeCAD is a great way to generate parametric models but it is quite difficult to change parameters in the table and sometimes a combination of parameters will break a model.
Thingiverse customizer is not working
Thingiverse offers a very userfriendly interface – the customizer which allows to create custom versions of 3d models in a web interface.
Unfortunately this interface is broken since quite some time. This video will show you three easy steps how to take an OpenSCAD model from thingiverse or my website and customize it on your own PC.
Installing and using OpenSCAD to customize
The first step is to download the OpenSCAD application from https://www.openscad.org/.
Download the newest version of the installer for your operating system, execute it and confirm all the steps.
You should now be able to open OpenSCAD over the program launcher of your operating system. Next we open the .scad file downloaded from the website in OpenSCAD. The interface at first might look scary but we can simplify this quite a bit. This is a simple model of a 3d print that clamps a cable to the hose of the shop vac.
Under view uncheck the box hide customizer.
Check the box hide editor.
Now click on the small triangle next to the Parameters and unfold all the parameters.
You can now change the parameters of the model to match your needs. Depending on the complexity of the model and the speed of your computer you may have to wait a moment for the update. As soon as you have changed all the parameters to your liking hit F6 or select design – render.
With the F7 key or by selecting File – Export – Export as STL you can export the file. Then open it in your slicer for printing just as a normal STL file you downloaded from a website.
