How To Share Information

Information Sharing Basics

Not sending an error file? Include the version numbers of your game. These are visible in the bottom-right corner of the game main menu.

Reporting an issue? Provide step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the issue so we’re able to test the problem.

Sometimes issues you encounter come with error files that could be very helpful in recognizing the problem so please consider reading How to Send Error Files section of this page.

Save Sharing Basics

1. While In-Game, load the save you want to share and save the game.
Saving the game is meant to make the save file appear as the latest modified file to make it easy to find. Alternatively you can check the file name in the ‘Load Game’ menu by hovering over the icon.

2. Open the “saves” folder by going to ‘Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 4 -> saves‘ and sort all files by ‘Date Modified’.
By sorting by ‘Date Modified’ you will see the most recent save file on the top, and since you saved the game in the first step, that would be the save you need to share. Only one file is required, the SAVE file.

3. Include details about the shared save!
Mention what is the name of the family, the name of the Sim to look at, and which world the household is at.

If no method of attaching or sending a file is available, upload the file to a hosting and share the download link. Try places like Google Drive, Dropbox, Sync, MEGA, workupload, MediaFire, or what you prefer.

Useful Error Files

Not all error files are useful to share, please send only the useful error files. Make sure to always send the most recently created file.

Sending Error Files

When sending an e-mail or posting on a forum, include the error file as an attachment to your message.

When sending a Discord message, drag and drop the error file from your computer into the Discord window.

Optionally, upload the error file to PasteBin or Rentry and share the link to the site.

In a situation where the error file is too big in size to share, edit the file with a text editor and remove the top part of the file contents.

Self Diagnose

Although not recommended, you can attempt to diagnose an error yourself. The key is not to draw immediate assumptions about the source of your issue as error files contain a lot of information that is not related to the actual problem you’re encountering. Try using the LastException Assistant site to get very basic information about the contents of an error file.

Sims 4: не работает мод Wicked Whims

The most common mistakes happen to everybody, so check them regardless of your pride and computer knowledge

Don’t put or extract WickedWhims files into folders, the game won’t be able to find the mod.

Files structure of mods is extremely strict and putting mod files into too many folders will cause the game to not find them. If the files are two folders deep or more, you need to fix that! Keep WickedWhims files directly in the Mods folder! The limit is one folder deep!

How to know if you did it right?

Turn the game on.

Open the Game Options.

Open the Other settings menu.

Click the ‘View Custom Content‘ button.

If you don’t see either the «TURBODRIVER_WickedWhims_Tuning» entry under «Custom Content» or the «TURBODRIVER_WickedWhims_Scripts» entry under the «Script Mods» — You Did It Wrong!

2. Enabling Auto-Disabled Mods

Your mods will be disabled after game patches, and you are required to enable them manually.

Every single time the game gets updated, all of your mods will be disabled automatically. You have to open Game Options, enable mods, apply changes, turn off the game, and then turn on the game again. Check out the Manual Installation page for more information on how to enable mods in the Game Options.

3. Updating Everything

Mods will simply ruin your whole game if you don’t keep them updated.

The biggest issues are always from using outdated or broken mods that affect the working ones in unpredictable ways and eventually break your game. After downloading and installing custom content, you always have to assume that you have broken mods.
Keeping your game updated is really important as well, and you can find what versions of the game are supported by WickedWhims at the Download page.

4. Extracting Downloaded Content

Archives (.zip .rar .7z) have to be extracted or the mod will not work.

The game only accepts PACKAGE and TS4SCRIPT files. If you put any other files into the ‘Mods’ folder, nothing will happen.
To extract archives you need an Archive Manager. If your system doesn’t provide one by default, try these:

WINDOWS — WINRAR

It is common for 7-ZIP to cause issues when extracting ZIP or RAR archives. It’s recommended to use a different archive manager application!

Make sure to turn the game on at least once before installing mods

Open the downloaded archive file with an Archive Manager application.
To extract archives you need an Archive Manager application. If your system doesn’t provide one by default, try these:

2. Locate The Sims 4 Documents Folder

Open the folder for The Sims 4 Mods.
It’s located at: \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods
If the ‘Mods’ folder is missing, turn the game on and off at least once.

3. Move the Files

Drag the ‘WickedWhimsMod’ folder directly from the archive manager application to the opened The Sims 4 Mods folder.

Do not put the ‘WickedWhimsMod’ folder into any other folder! Put it directly into the ‘Mods’ folder!

If the ‘Resource.cfg’ file is missing, turn the game on and off at least once.

4. Turn the game on

Open the ‘Game Options‘ menu.

5. Enable Mods

Open the ‘Other’ Game Options menu and enable:

the ‘Enable Custom Content and Mods’ setting

the ‘Script Mods Allowed’ setting

And click “Apply Changes”. Turning the game off and on again is required for these settings to fully apply.

You need to repeat this process every single time a game update occurs!
