Controller works fine in big screen and in test app. However, when I boot up Yakuza the controller does nothing. If I touch an analog stick the ps4 prompts pop up on screen but still nothing on the controller works.

Anyone else had this issue or are successfully playing the game with an x1 controller wired?

Yep I have the same. When I push a button, the game detects the controller input by changing the help prompt from using a mouse/keyboard to using a controller, but nothing more than that happens. Can’t navigate through the menus or anything.

I fixed it. The game only detects one controller, so just unplug your other controllers and it will work. I had an steering wheel plugged in for example.

I have no others plugged in.

Maybe a virtual controller? Like an Xinput emulator?

Disable steamworks support for controllers. Game has native xinput support.

Settings — controller — general controller settings. Turn off option ‘Xbox controller’ or smth like that.

I’m at work now, but I will try this when I get home. I’m assuming you’re talking about settings in Steam. Hope it works, because when it did work, I was only allowed to look around and hit pause, and I’ve never seen something like this before, all these issues are really weird. All other games are perfectly fine, old and new.

Whilst I dont experience it with this game, I have a similar problem in another one.

I dont know if this will work for you but if you are normally playing in Full Screen mode try firing the game up in windowed or borderless mode with the controller enabled and see if that works.

The game has to be fired up in that state though. If you fire up in full screen mode, switch it to one of the other choices, shut it down, then fire it back up again.

Same issue here but with an Xbox One controller. I restarted it earlier today and it only recognises when the controller disconnects but wont accept button pushes or anything else.

Edit: Controller works everywhere else where controllers are supported so it’s not a hardware issue.

Did you ever find a fix?

After switching to big picture controller by going to Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings and using the «Calibrate» option and enabling the «Xbox Configuration Support» and restarting a couple times, it went back to normal.

Although I’ve never had to do any of that before for any game and it worked without doing it in big picture mode like four times before.

Edit: I have all my drivers installed, unless a new gamepad driver game out that I don’t know about and have never had to do this before, it’s really quite odd. See if the Steam big picture fix works for you.

Nope, Still isn’t working.

Yeah, right when I did all that I also just happened to read a comment in a similar thread saying that theirs randomly started working again. The same could have happened to me, whatever it was. I’ve also seen people say that their controllers have stopped mid game so the issue may return at a later time. Until I’ve played a few times I can’t be sure. It might not be something we can easily fix. It might be something that needs patching, whatever it is.

Then again, you could try that thing you can do where you emulate your keyboard with a gamepad. There’s third party software for that right? I have never used it but you could try it out. I believe JoyToKey is one but I wouldn’t know how good it is as I’ve never needed to try.

Edit: The emulation thing would be a last ditch attempt for me though as you normally only use that kind of stuff for games without controller support altogether. Worth a shot though if absolutely everything else fails I guess.

If you are using DS4windows, close it and active the PS4 Configuration Support in Steam options.

I don’t know how to uninstall those drivers.

lol 17 minutes ago. I’m actually having issues myself but a bit different.

Try what BloodmaD said. 1st try quitting out of DS4Windows—make sure though as it remains in the system tray sometimes (you’ve actually deleted it though). Then you try restarting you PC and try again, you may have to pair your controller again (hold share+PS button and pair within your bluetooth settings).

I would like to give a shout-out to DS4Windows. It’s an excellent program and some games (even Steam games) benefit because they can crash or become unplayable with Steams Xinput system (which I wish they would release as a stand alone feature). Let us know how you get on, and remember to work through your problems—usually the computer programs need to be flushed (i.e hard reset) in order to function.
